Soma is the nation's most abused non-controlled substance, according to the DEA. Nevada's pharmacy board is considering reclassifying it, making it more difficult for addicts to gather the cocktail's ingredients.
Nine years ago the Nevada Board of Pharmacy considered moving hydrocodone to Schedule II, but ended up voting against the plan, according to its attorney, Louis Ling.
Hydrocodone-containing products are in tablet, capsule and liquid forms. A variety of colors, markings, and packaging are available.
Hydrocodone will react as a normal opiate in the available field test kits.

Hydrocodone detoxification
is but one component of a comprehensive treatment strategy. Hydrocodone detox
can be said to have three immediate goals: (1) to provide a safe withdrawal
from hydrocodone and enable the individual to become free of hydrocodone (2)
to provide a withdrawal from hydrocodone that is humane and that protects the
individuals dignity; and (3) to prepare the individual for ongoing treatment
of his or her dependence. The duration of hydrocodone detox is not a clearly
defined period of time. Hydrocodone detox usually is defined as measuring the
duration of withdrawal signs or symptoms from hydrocodone. The plan of care
for hydrocodone detox should be individualized. There is considerable variation
among individuals in terms of signs and symptoms of withdrawal from hydrocodone.
The best outcomes are obtained by tailoring the hydrocodone detoxification regimen
to meet the needs of the individual.
~ Hydrocodone detox
provides a safe withdrawal from hydrocodone and enables individuals to become
drug-free. Withdrawal from hydrocodone produces severe discomfort but generally
is not life threatening. It may, however, present a danger to those who have
medical problems.
~ Hydrocodone detox
provides a withdrawal from hydrocodone that is humane and thus protects the
individuals dignity. A caring staff, a supportive environment, sensitivity to
cultural issues, and confidentiality are important to providing humane withdrawal.
~ Hydrocodone detox
prepares the individual for ongoing treatment of his or her hydrocodone addiction.
During hydrocodone detox, individuals may form therapeutic relationships with
treatment staff or other patients, and become aware of alternatives to a drug-using
lifestyle.
